ASSOCIATION ZEA BERMÚDEZ

1) To promote the interaction between the Zea-Bermúdez descendants with a given periodicity (5 years ?), considering some special finantial support for those cases when it will not be possible to get to them, due to economical reasons.

2) To support the edition or co-edition of works relevant to us, for instance the work on the Zea-Bermúdez descendants, foreseen for 2008, whose draft has been already circulated by Mamen, continuing the work initiated by Eggers.

3) To recommend the Málaga Townhall to give the name of "Francisco de Zea Bermúdez" to a street, avenue, square, etc. in honour of the Spanish first minister in the 19th century, born in Málaga.

4) To support (total or partial) the restoration of documents of great interest for the Zea-Bermúdez descendants (for instance,  the Archidona public notary documentation  for 1617) and the purchasing of other documents  (for instance, the "Crónica de los Zea
Bermúdez" lost in the 1950's). As an association, it should be also possible to find additional funding in order to support our own restauration projects.

5) To grant a fellowship (total or partial) on a yearly basis, to some(s) Zea-Bermúdez descendants in order to complete his/her education (“public” University level preferred) in the special case of economic problems  (for instance motherless or/and fatherless).

Francisco López  de  Becerra de Solé has told us his good disposal in order to assist us.

We have also contacted the  Fundación Málaga, which has kindly offered logistical support, namely, a social address (in the Constitution square, right at the heart of Málaga), statutes preparation, possibility of celebrating up to three annual meetings of our future executive board, etc. We are also confident that the Archidona Townhall will fully support this initiative.

We do believe that the social address in Málaga is most essential (the one already mentioned as offered by the Fundación Málaga) where we should get the post and so on. In addition to that, we may think of getting available a second place, for instance, the Public Library & Historical Archive at Archidona, where we could host in the future our documents on a “Zea-Bermúdez” corner.

With a modest fee on a yearly basis (for instance 50 eur  for "senior" members and 20 eur for  "junior" members, those ones younger than 30 yr old) we think that we could start considering some of the points raised above.

So this is our idea/proposal.

We would appreciate very much your comments and suggestions.

If most of us do agree, we would like to start our Association up early 2008. That is the reason why we would like to know your opinion before the end of October.

The way we propose to communicate each other, in the framework of the Association, would be the following one:

The webpage www.zeabermudez.com  will become the official webpage of the association. News regarding the Association will be posted there, together with any document relative to the Zea-Bermúdez family (“Hidalguías”, reports, and son on). A forum could be created as well, with a given password, so only the members of our Association could access it.s

We also foresee a public area, where anybody accessing the webpage, will be able to get additional information regarding the family and even how to become a member.

To end up, just to remind all of you that most of our ancestors, gave us as a lovely legathy, that we should not lose our origins keeping together our ties. Don't you think that promoting this  “Zea-Bermúdez”  Association will be the way to achieve this ?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
With warm best regards,

Alberto & Mamen,
